How it works in Norway

Two companies, two roles

In Norway your electricity comes from two separate companies. Here is who does what - and where we fit in.

This is Viddakraft Electricity supplier

Sells you the power

Viddakraft sells the electricity and sets your price. You sign one contract with us and we handle the rest - including registering you with the grid company.

Grid company (nettselskap)

Owns the cables

The grid company (for example, Elvia) owns the lines to your building and charges for transport. You cannot choose this one - it is fixed by your location - and you do not sign a separate contract with it yourself: we register you, and the grid relationship follows your address automatically.

Viddakraft is licensed by NVE (Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat) and has operated since 2021 with a clean track record.

What Viddakraft handles
We register your business with the grid company
We switch you over without any interruption
We set up your price and contract

You make one decision - we handle every step and keep you informed. You then receive two invoices each month: one from Viddakraft for the electricity, and one from your grid company for transport.

Your agreement

We don't sell one product - we build the right one

Viddakraft offers every contract type on the Norwegian market and recommends the one that fits your consumption - not the one that suits us. The setup fee is 0 kr on every type. Spot has no binding period; fixed, hybrid and forvaltning have a binding term, set individually for your product and explained before you sign.

Most common

Spot price

You pay the market price hour by hour, plus a transparent margin. Lowest expected cost over time, but the price moves with the market. No binding period - typically 14 to 30 days' notice.

For businesses that can handle some variation.

Fixed price

You lock the price for an agreed period. Fully predictable - you usually pay a small premium for that certainty. Runs with a binding period for the agreed term.

For businesses that need an exact budget.

Hybrid / price corridor

You follow the spot price within an agreed cap and floor. Keeps most of the upside while cutting the worst spikes. Runs with a binding period.

For businesses that want protection from extremes.

Forvaltning

We actively buy and hedge part of your volume over time instead of paying pure spot. Runs with a binding period.

For high, predictable annual volumes.
Not sure which one fits? Send us your current contract or a recent invoice. We will review it and show you, in plain English, where the real cost sits and which agreement would serve your business best - with no obligation.
Pricing

Transparent pricing, clear terms

A dynamic spot price you can follow and terms you can see up front. Getting started takes four simple steps.

For most businesses we recommend a dynamic spot price: we buy your electricity on the market and add a transparent margin - that is it. If a fixed, hybrid or forvaltning agreement suits you better, we build that instead. The setup fee is 0 kr; spot has no binding period and typically 14 to 30 days' notice, while the other types have a binding term we agree with you first.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Will our electricity be cut off when we switch?
No. Switching supplier never interrupts your power. The cables and meter stay exactly as they are - only the company that sells you the electricity changes.
Do we need a separate contract with the grid company, such as Elvia?
No. You sign one agreement - with Viddakraft. You do not arrange or sign a separate contract with the grid company (nettselskap) such as Elvia: the grid relationship follows your address and is set up automatically when we register you. You simply receive a separate monthly invoice from them for transport (nettleie).
What types of electricity contract do you offer?
We offer every standard contract type on the Norwegian market: spot price, fixed price, hybrid (price corridor) and forvaltning. We recommend the one that fits your consumption profile, and each offer is built individually for your business.
Do you charge a setup fee?
No - the setup fee is 0 kr. You only pay for the electricity you use, plus a transparent margin on the market price.
Can we put several addresses on one agreement?
Yes. We can consolidate multiple meters and locations under a single agreement, so you manage everything in one place.
How many invoices will we receive?
Two each month: one from Viddakraft for the electricity (clear and itemised, issued in Norwegian to Norwegian standards), and one from your grid company (nettselskap) for transport. This split is the same for every supplier in Norway, and your contact person will gladly walk you through your invoice in English.
Are we locked into a contract?
It depends on the contract type, and we always tell you before you sign. A spot agreement has no binding period - typically 14 to 30 days' notice and usually no exit fee. Fixed, hybrid and forvaltning agreements have a binding period, because we secure the price for you; that period is set individually for your product.
Can you take over a meter from a previous tenant?
Yes. When you move into existing premises, we register the meter in your company's name and move it onto your agreement - usually without any break in supply.
Is everything handled in English?
Your support and contracts are in English, and you get a dedicated contact person (Filip) you can reach directly. Invoices are issued in Norwegian to Norwegian standards - that is fixed for every supplier - but your contact will gladly walk you through yours in English.
How do we get started?
Book a call or send the contact form. Tell us your addresses and organisation number, and we handle the switch and the registration for you.
