Norgespris Explained in English: A Complete Guide by Filip
Hi, I’m Filip, founder of Viddakraft. The Norgespris support scheme will be launched in the last week of September 2025, and many customers are asking themselves: should I choose Norgespris or the standard electricity subsidy (Strømstøtte)? I’ve even made a song about Norgespris – you’ll find the link further down in this article.

Where can I order Norgespris?
You can order Norgespris exclusively at elhub.no.
Viddakraft – your energy advisor (for both households and businesses)
My job is not only to sell electricity but also to make sure you, as a customer, make the best possible decisions for your wallet. That’s why I’ve prepared this honest and straightforward guide. I’ll also share what I personally choose for myself and for my parents.
If you enjoy rap, you can also listen to Viddakraft’s “Norgespris Song” (remember to turn on the subtitles): "Norgespris-sangen | Electricity prices, Strømstøtte and Viddakraft | Cheap power | Call: +47 22 60 00 70"
My personal choice – and why
I’ll be completely honest: I choose Norgespris. Both for myself and for my parents. We all live in the NO1 price zone (Oslo/Østlandet), where prices have been high and unpredictable. For us, the security of a fixed price of 50 øre/kWh including VAT + grid fees is stability that I truly value.
But Norgespris is not the right choice for everyone. Let’s find out if it’s right for you.
Lock-in Period
When you choose Norgespris, you enter into an agreement with a lock-in period. The lock-in is from October 1 to December 31, 2025, and the agreement will then be binding throughout 2026. During this time, you cannot switch back to the regular Electricity Subsidy Scheme (Strømstøtteordningen). The agreement is tied to the property's electricity meter, so it will also apply to a new owner if you move.
You have a 14-day right of withdrawal for Norgespris from the order date, and you can sign up for Norgespris anytime until the end of 2026. However, as stated, you cannot exit the agreement before the binding period is over. Companies are not eligible for Norgespris or the Electricity Subsidy Scheme (Strømstøtteordningen).
The big question: Should you choose Norgespris?
The answer depends entirely on where in the country you live.

If you live in Southern, Western or Eastern Norway (NO1, NO2, NO5)
Recommendation: Yes, seriously consider Norgespris.
Many independent experts, including Huseierne and other analyst groups, have called Norgespris “a no-brainer” for households in these price zones. Looking at the historical data, Norgespris would have been a very profitable agreement in recent years. The prices in the charts below are net: Norgespris at 40 øre/kWh ex. VAT; 50 øre incl. VAT.

(NO1, NO2 and NO5) Net electricity prices (ex. VAT) from Nord Pool vs. Norgespris 40 øre + VAT (January - September 2025)
If you live in Central Norway (NO3) or Northern Norway (NO4)
Recommendation: Be cautious.
In these areas, market prices are usually much lower than 50 øre/kWh (40 øre ex. VAT). That means there’s a significant risk of paying more with Norgespris. Here, the current Strømstøtte system is likely the better choice.
However, the portal mn24.no has reported that “Prices in Central Norway may rise so sharply that Norgespris could also become attractive for households in Trøndelag.” At Viddakraft, we’re always ready to check long-term forecasts for our customers.
Not sure which price zone you belong to? You can easily check this on your Viddakraft invoice or your current electricity bill.

When do you save, and when do you lose?
Norgespris is all about predictability. You protect yourself against winter price shocks. But there’s a flip side: if market prices drop extremely low, as they did in 2020 (10–20 øre), you’ll pay more with Norgespris than with spot prices.
So you give up the chance of rock-bottom prices in exchange for guaranteed protection against extreme highs. For households in Eastern, Western, and Southern Norway, that’s likely a good compromise.

Who does what? A simple overview to avoid confusion
Many customers are unsure who is responsible for what. Here’s a simple breakdown:
- Elhub runs the ordering system, where you log in with BankID to sign up for Norgespris,
- Your grid company administers the system and ensures you get the correct deductions/credits on your grid invoice,
- We at Viddakraft are your electricity supplier and advisor. We help you choose and make sure everything is technically set up correctly. We check that your meter is properly registered in the system so you can receive Norgespris.
Prefer to stay with the standard Strømstøtte? You don’t need to do anything.

How to order Norgespris – Viddakraft makes it easy
Orders open in week 39 (end of September 2025).
To place an order, your meter needs to be registered with the correct code in Elhub’s systems (code 35 for households, code 36 for holiday homes). This is a technical detail you don’t need to worry about – we at Viddakraft will check it for you.
The only possible way to order Norgespris will be through the website elhub.no. You log in to “Min Side” (eng."My Page") and select “Norgespris” there.
Become a Viddakraft customer by registering here, or give us a call at +47 22 60 00 70.
No BankID?
The official route for customers without BankID is to submit a manual form to the grid company. But we know this can be inconvenient. That’s why you can contact us directly at Viddakraft, and we’ll guide you through the process.
Is your home electricity registered to a company? We recommend switching to a private agreement.
